When you have a low sense of self-worth, make a fact dump (here's how)

Have you ever realized that it's ridiculously easy to put ourselves down and have a low sense of self-worth, but it's not as easy to acknowledge our own achievements?

It's human, I guess: we usually tend to underestimate ourselves. We don't feel worthy enough. We feel like bragging. We feel like imposters.

I'm often guilty of this, despite being aware of this pattern. However, with this easy little 'trick', I've helped myself looking at things from a third-party perspective. And most times than not, I've found myself to be quite proud of what I achieved.

I'm referring to the Fact Dump technique. Let me tell you how it will be useful to you.

After spending the last few weeks in the States visiting family and getting vaccinated, I’ve been able (for the first time since March of 2020) to take a break from service and just be all the AP I can be!

I’ve eaten lots of Trader Joe’s PB-filled pretzels and a copious amount of Mexican, Thai, and Japanese food. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll also see I’m starting a new religion based on near daily hits of glazed old fashioned donuts.

Although I live in Italy 🇮🇹 which has world-famous espresso (caffè), I love decaf drip coffee from Peet’s. I order a large dark roast drip (2/3 decaf, 1/3 reg) with a foamy splash of hot soy. It’s magnificent. The nearly $5 charge is not.

Since Justin and I stayed in Ventura California (where his father lives) I got the opportunity every day to just sit and watch the sun set.

Yesterday when I was watching the end of day magic show I reflected back over these past 15 months.

When I leapt out of my sabbatical last year on March 10 I could never in all my wildest dreams imagined what would come my way professionally (during a global pandemic and locked in my house).

My desire to show up and serve was so intense that it didn’t allow me to second guess or question my intuition. I just DID IT. I let my heart and gut lead the way.

It’s pretty overwhelming to step back and see what was created in just 15 months BECAUSE I took action based on my intuition, values, and newfound “fuck perfect, just try it” attitude.

Now let me be transparent here and let you in on something very personal.

The reason it’s overwhelming is because I’m naturally a giant a-hole to myself.

I’m wired to focus on what’s lacking, what should be better, compare my results to others, and destroy myself so that I “step up” and make it better.

Thanks to the power of coaching, nature, journaling, and intimately knowing my internal saboteur I’ve re-wired (most of) my brain to turn off that noise about not being ______ enough and look at FACTS.

When you hit pause on your mean mental monologue and look at the facts you’ll see you’re doing a great fucking job showing up in your life and you’ve got more going right than wrong.

Facts are power-FULL.

If you struggle with not enough-ness and a strong saboteur whispering hot-garbage in your ear I encourage you to take a big fat FACT DUMP.

❗ A FACT DUMP is where you list 25+ things you factually did, created, made happen, tried, and put into the world.

Because my life’s purpose is to be an example of what’s possible when you step out of your comfort zone I’ve decided to share my fact dump with you.

I want to thank YOU because YOU contributed to this list.

You are very important to me and it’s an honor to know you, be myself with you, and serve you and the vision you have for your life.

Thanks for being here.

💜 AP

P.S. If after reading my FACT DUMP you wish to share yours, just email me at angela@angelaparker.com and lay it on me!
